What do we do now?

You must contact me to see if I am available on the day you wish to marry.

You are required to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage form,(which you can download from my website), and forward this form to me to confirm your booking.
Legally this form must be in the possession of your celebrant at least one month and one day prior to the wedding, but no longer than 18 months before.
However, it is important that you confirm your booking as soon as possible.
In extenuating circumstances ONLY, this time may be shortened.

If you were born in Australia you must provide your birth certificates with the notice.
If you were born outside Australia, an overseas passport will be accepted as proof of birth.

If either of you has been married before, you must show evidence of how that marriage ended, (eg, divorce or death of former spouse.)

Witnessing the signatures on the NOIM form.

If you are signing the form in Australia, your signatures on the form must be witnessed by an authorised marriage celebrant, a JP, a barrister or solicitor, a legally qualified medical practitioner, or a member of the Australian Federal Police, or the police force of a state or territory.

If you are signing outside Australia, please follow the notes on the form in section (b) under the signature box.
It appears that the person most easily located is a “Notary Public” who can be found in most legal firms.

Is this the only form we must sign before the wedding?

No. You must both sign a declaration in the presence of your celebrant prior to the wedding. Your celebrant will prepare this for signing.

What do we do if we wish to be married on a beach?

Beach weddings are extremely popular.
If you wish to be married on a beach in the Shire of Busselton, which includes Dunsborough, Yallingup, Meelup, Castle Rock, Smith’s Beach, Bunker Bay and others, you must book that particular section of beach with the Busselton Shire. A booking fee is charged. This is to ensure that there are not several wedding parties arriving at the same beach at the same time!
